|Dr. Steven McGhee, pianist and vocal coach, enjoys working primarily with vocalists, focusing on the genres of art song and opera. In addition to recent recital performances in Chicago, Detroit and Ann Arbor, he joined tenor Kyle Stegall in Aldeburgh, England for master classes with Ian Bostridge, Julius Drake, Malcolm Martineau and Christoph Prégardien centered on the songs of Britten and Schubert. A student of Martin Katz and a 2013 graduate of the University of Michigan with a doctorate in collaborative piano, Dr. McGhee’s culminating dissertation performances included a program of Scandinavian art song and chamber music, a lecture recital on American art song written in the last thirty years, and a program of witty French songs and chamber works all about animals. He is the music director of Detroit’s newest opera company, Opera Modo, and has served as music director and coach/pianist for numerous theatrical productions, including: L’Enfant et les sortilèges, Ariadne auf Naxos, L’Elisir d’Amore, The Cunning Little Vixen, Xerxes, and Candide (with Frederica von Stade as The Old Lady) at the University of Michigan, Così fan Tutte for the Pine Mountain Music Festival, The Sound of Music, Le Nozze di Figaro, La Bohème and Carmen with Arbor Opera Theatre, The Light in the Piazza at New York University, Hansel and Gretel with Berkshire Opera Theater and the off-Broadway premiere of Don Imbroglio at the New York Musical Theater Festival. In addition to his freelance work as a coach and pianist throughout southeastern Michigan, Dr. McGhee serves on staff at the University of Michigan.
||Tiffanie Waldron is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a degree in Music Education. Her vocal performances have ranged from private events to working with the Michigan Opera Theatre. With the Michigan Opera Theatre, Ms. Waldron has performed in several opera works such as Aida, Paggliaci, Margaret Garner, and Porgy and Bess. She has directed the FCUCC Ypsilanti choir since 2011. Ms. Waldron is currently an elementary music teacher.
